Capri Hotel - Historical Hotel Capri - Hotel San Michele Capri

History

You will feel as if you are part of the history of this place during your stay at  Hotel San Michele, that opened in 1894 and has given hospitality to monarchy and important people in its neoclassic and elegant rooms ever since.

In the nineteenth century, at the peak of Romanticism, the descendants of noble European families used to stay here during their Grand Tour, whereas at the beginning of the twentieth century, the doctor and writer Axel Munthe, turned this hotel into a literary salon with many artists and intellectuals, among which the Queen of Sweden.

Nowadays, Hotel San Michele still treasures that classical and exclusive atmosphere that echoes in the living rooms and Louis XVI-style furniture, in the tapestry and important paintings that decorate all common areas.

Among  its guests,  Hotel san Michele can count international actors and artists like Liz Taylor, Kirk Douglas, Alberto Sordi, the Gipsy Kings, Pope Benedict XVI, Napolitano  and Andreotti.
