LOCATIONS - The Hotel is situated in a large mature garden with breathtaking views of the island, the bay of Naples, the Sorrento peninsular and the Amalfi coast. Close to the centre of Anacapri and to the chairlift that will transport you to the highest point of the island on Monte Solaro. Also a short walking distance to Axel Munthe’s famous Villa San Michele.
The hotel was constructed in neo-classical style in 1870’s, and opened in 1904 under the name of “Hotel Molaro”. In a short while it became frequented by famous artists, writers and noble families.
The elegant lounges furnished in the style of Louis XVI, provide a welcoming atmosphere that takes one back to the time when the queen of Sweden and the Kaiser and other friends of the doctor Axel Munthe frequently visited the hotel.
